Golden Birthday

When you figure out that the birthday girl is having her Golden Birthday a card from your stash is not going to cut it. You need to get home from work and make a new one to honor the fun occasion.
Today my co-worker celebrates her 28th birthday on the 28th - a Golden Birthday!!  I went looking for the perfect cake cut to start my card off right and topped it with a 28!!
I wanted the inside to have the word "Golden" so I cut the "Happy Birthday" and selected a different font (Suburbia Cricut Cart) to make the large letters I wanted.  Once everything was together I added some Gold Stickles to top it off.
Hope the birthday Girl likes it and has an amazing day!!

Supplies:
- Sweet Treat Cricut Cartridge - cake
- Suburbia Cricut Cartridge - 28, GOLDEN

Cricut Explore....I did it!!

I did it.  I bought the Cricut Explore!!  I was not going to get this one.  I was going to stay loyal to my Expression and just enjoy the fact I could still use my Gypsy...but I watched the videos...a lot of them... and it just really started to WOW me. I took the plunge and I am so glad I did.

Here is what I love so far about my Explore.

Set-up was so easy - I got it out of the box, blade installed and plugged it in. On the inside cover were the instructions for set up. A few minutes after this I made my first cut.

All my Carts are on Design Space and that means I do not need my Gypsy anymore or my cartridges. They all went to my Mom's house so she can use them whenever she wants. It also means I have room to put things (more paper maybe)

It is Quiet and Smooth. I love my old Cricuts and my Cameo, but this thing is smooth and pretty quiet. SEE..
Design Space - I love it. It is easy to follow along and works just like I am used to my Gypsy working.  My only complaint is I can not just press cut from the computer-you have to go to the machine and press the button. You can also cut your own svgs and fonts with the Explore as well.

Instead of having to press all the buttons for the layers, when you click an image in Design Space all the layers are there. You can remove the ones you do not want to cut and go.

Also, you can place a gift bag or shirt layout on the screen and move your image around to get a feel for size and placement.

Happy I took the plunge and am creating away with the machine often.

I recommend looking at Joy's videos from Obsessed with Scrapbooking.

Dance in the Rain - Umbrella Challenge

Happy Tuesday to all.  I hope it is not looking like rain in your area but if that is the case then this week's challenge at Die Cuttin' Divas might be just right for you.  This week we want you to save us from the rain with your Umbrella projects!!!
I had this page kit set from American Crafts and it had this cute rain boot print so I decided I would work with the paper and go from there.
I must admit I played around and almost tore the entire thing apart...wrong colors, punch did not work right, broke a nail...you name it, but in the end I think I like it just fine. I added some stick on gems and a simple sentiment stamp to the front and was all done.
I hope you will join us at Die Cuttin' Divas this week for our umbrella challenge.

Supplies
- Create-A-Critter Cricut Cartridge - Umbrella
- American Crafts Page Kit- Backyard - papers
- EK Success punch
- Pink By Design stamp
- Memento Ink by Dew Drop - Bamboo Leaves

Sight for Sore Eyes

Happy Monday and welcome to another Monday challenge with Fantabulous Cricut!
Challenge #203 Bye Bye Birdie
Create a project with a bird on it.

I started with a cartridge that doesn't get much use & a cute sentiment stamp.
I created a layered front with some papers in my collection as well as a 3x4 card from my growing Project Life collection. I added this simple stamp from Pink By Design as well.
On the inside I recreated my front layers once again adding a project Life Card. I love combining all my fun paper goods with cute Cricut cuts.
I hope you will join us this week at Fantabulous Cricut for our Bye Bye Birdie Challenge. We have a wonderful sponsor for the week. Be sure to stop by the other Design Team members as well.

No Cricut Thursday - Santa Goofy & Pluto

The cold is slowly vanishing and Spring is coming, but that is not going to keep me from remembering the awesome times we had this past Christmas at Disney World. Today I am remembering our first character meet & greet right at our resort.
Santa Goofy and Pluto were right in our lobby meeting people near a small tree. We got off the elevator on our way to dinner and got to get some quick hugs and autographs.
No die cutting machines for this Project Life spread. The cards are a mix of the Project Life Jade edition and SNAP! Studios Say Cheese set.
I love these cute pre-cut cards. I thought it looked great layered over the PL card! What a fun visit.

Supplies:
- Project Life Jade Edition - red striped, sweet memories and chain link cards
- SNAP! Studios Say Cheese collection -star die cut and star banner card

Holy Guacamole - Snack Time with Die Cuttin' Divas

Anyone hungry? How about a snack? This week at Die Cuttin' Divas we are showing projects featuring snack foods. I pulled out my Fast Food Cricut cartridge for some inspiration and had to make this when I saw the cut...
My husband might say I am a guacamole junkie - actually ever since I discovered, a few years ago, I like avocado I seems to always add them to my meals, but chips and guac are a favorite snack.
I had my pile of green papers out from making St. Patrick's Day projects so I grabbed my avocado green and went looking for a fun fiesta pattern for my bowl. I think I found the right one. I cut the layers and pieced my cut together.
In order to make the chip layer different from the bowl I cute the base layer in both colors and chopped off the bottom on the cream color for my chip.
Hope you will come and play with us at Die Cuttin' Divas this week as we celebrate SNACKS!!  (Maybe share what your favorite snack is in your comments this week!)

Supplies
- Fast Food Cricut Cartridge - Holy Guacamole cut
- Wild Card - Circle card with center removed
- Colorbok Beach House Paper Stack - pattern paper

Lucky Friday

As we get closer to St Patty's Day I thought a little shamrock lunch box card will bring a smile to my daughter's face.
I cut out this cute Shamrock from Miss Kate Cuttables when I was making my design team project for Die Cuttin' Divas. It was the wrong size for what I needed, but just right for a simple "Good Luck" lunch box card for my daughter who will hopefully ace her spelling test after lunch today!!

There is still time to join in our St. Patrick's Day challenge at Die Cuttin' Divas.

Supplies
- Miss Kate Cuttables - cute clover (top layers only)
- Recollections washi tape

Shake Your Shamrocks with Die Cuttin' Divas

Happy Tuesday everyone. It is time to go green - Shamrock green for St.Patty's Day! This week the Die Cuttin' Divas want to see your St. Patrick's Day projects - shamrocks, rainbows, pots of gold...we want to see it all.  I decided to get the party started with some action...action wobble that is.
I love this cute shamrock from Miss Kate's Cuttables and knew I had to use it for my design team project this week. (I actually cut several of this so be on the look for a few more projects this week as well) I pulled out a huge stash of green patterned papers to get started.
Once I had my papers selected I got my cute shamrock put together.  I decided I wanted him to have some pink cheeks so I add a small pink patch instead of a huge layer.

Once he was ready to shake (thanks to the help of an action wobble) I got the card base ready to go. I did not have a stamp so I print and cut the words for my card.
I found a simple ribbon to add to the card at the last minute. He is all set to give to a great friend and co-worker as she gears up for the weekend of celebrating.  I hope you will join us at Die Cuttin Divas this week and Shake Your Shamrocks!!
Supplies
- Miss Kate Cuttables - cute clover
- Font - Skinny jeans

Fantabulous Cricut Sketch Challenge #201

Happy Monday and welcome to another Monday challenge with Fantabulous Cricut!

Challenge #201 Sketch Challenge
This sketch is from the now defunct Card Positioning Systems.

Here is the card I came up with for this sketch. I wanted to keep it really simple so I went looking for a word cut to place on my card as the main feature.  The word hope speaks to me in a lot of ways so i selected the one off the Give a Hoot cartridge to use.
I placed some pretty washi tape on the card base and added a little embossing to the simple scalloped circle I cut off the Accent Essentials Cartridge. Thanks so much for stopping by today.  I hope you will join us this wee for the fun sketch challenge.

Gift Bag with a Sketch for Die Cuttin' Divas

Welcome to March!! (Spring is coming I promise...just going to be a little longer more).  It is the first Tuesday of the month and that means a wonderful sketch challenge with Die Cuttin' Divas.  This week we have this fun round sketch to work with...
My daughter happened to be cleaning up her room when I was about to make my project. She found an empty gift bag and said, "I bet you can do something with this..."
She was right I guess. I found some papers I thought worked with the purple of the bag and went to work creating the sketch and the simple butterfly die cut to top it off.  I decided I would add a tag when I had a reason to give the bag to someone!!
Thanks for stopping by.  I hope you will go visit Die Cuttin' Divas and play along with our fun sketch.

- Disney Happily Ever After Cricut Cartridge - Butterfly
- The Paper Studio - Daydream Doodle Paper Pack - patterned papers
