Just Because - Lunch Box Cards

Good day to you. I hope you are having a wonderful Tuesday. Today we start a new challenge at Die Cuttin' Divas and it is all about "Just Because". You do not need a special reason to send cheer to someone so make a card, just because!
I made a few lunch box cards for my daughter. I like to send these to her about once a week just to say hello!  I started out by grabbing a few sheets of paper from the Amy Tangerine Sketchbook paper pad and creating a base for 3 different cards.
After getting the bases ready I went looking for some simple and small die cuts to play with. The three cards each ended up with something different: 2 die cuts and one with heat embossing (a new thing for me)

The final card allowed me to play with my VersaMarker- watermark pen and embossing powders..it was my first attempt with this and I am pretty pleased.
A few touches of Stickles and some love and these three cards were all set for lunches of the future.  I hope you get a chance to be in our Just Because challenge this week at Die Cuttin' Divas

It's a Fantabulous Cricut Heat Wave

Welcome to Monday! Today means back to School for me (and many others as well). Figures as right now we are getting a heat wave here. With that in mind Fantabulous Cricut is have a Heat Wave challenge this week.
My daughter is thrilled that she can change into her swimsuit and play in the sprinkler after school right now so I made a cute swimming bear card!
I added a fun stamp from Pink By Design, some hand done polka dots (who doesn't love polka dots?) and made the inside of the card match up.
After getting everything all done I knew one thing was missing...This bear needed to move and groove and shake off the water so I popped her onto an Action Wobble.
Hope you are staying cool in the sun (hoping it last awhile into the fall) and hoping you get a chance to play along with us this week at Fantabulous Cricut.  Make sure you check out the rest of the DT projects and the details on the Upcoming Vinyl University Cricut Crawl, challenge and week of vinyl fun.

Science Wall

Earlier this week I showed a sneak peak of some science themed decorations I was working on for the Science department at my school.
Those decorations turned into this fun wall that the Science team put up in our lunch room so all students would see it. These are some of the major goals/behaviors of all science students.
I had a lot of fun creating the fun icons. I ended up using 9 different Cricut Cartridges and my Silhouette machine to cut the letters.  Here are my two favorites:

I made the beaker with some vellum paper to give it the glass look. I had to add on some smoke and glossy lava on this volcano.
The printed signs and the letters being held by the cute mini monsters were made using the Cargo font.
It was fun to help make these and all day yesterday they were sending me people asking for things I can help them create as well. Soon our whole building will be what my daughter calls"CRICUTIZED!"

First Grade Flashback

With all the back to school things going on I decided I better get up to date on my daughter's school scrapbook. In this album, I highlight events from the school year: meeting the teacher, class pictures, field trips, concerts etc.  This is the layout I did with her teacher and class photos from the year.
With the dark green class picture color, I decided that some neutral tones would look best for this layout. I found these great  papers in the Basic Grey Fact paper collection and I put them together with some fun polka-dot washi tape.
I got this great collection of cuts in the Silhouette Store and was planning on using a few of them on the layout...
but in the end I just liked the look of a simple title.
Just a fun layout to remember the year. I can only hope Second grade goes as well.  Thanks for visiting. I am going to link this project up  to the current challenge at Cameo Creations Challenges - Back to School
Challenge.  It goes until September 4th.

Supplies:
- Basic Grey Fact - all papers
- First Grade files by Samantha Walker
- Polka dot washi tape

What Goals will you check off this year?

The main wall at the school I work at is my special place. Some people even call it my wall.  I jazz it up whenever possible. This year for back to school I decided to go with a very basic idea instead of the clubs and sports wall of the past.
A few weeks ago I was lucky to get this cute clipboard file from Pretty Paper, Pretty Ribbons. As soon as I saw it I got the idea for my new wall display.
I cut out 8 large clipboard bases and then the silver clip pieces. I added the goals for the school year to the white base cut. I used the print and cut feature on my Cameo to get each piece ready. This is such an easy thing to put together.
For the words I used the same font from the clipboard papers and cut them out large. I glued everything together (right onto the paper at school actually) and was done in a flash. I got it all up right before my principal walked by and saw it. She loves it! Tomorrow I head back for two days of teacher workshop and my students start Monday.

What I'm Working on Wednesday - Back to School

It is Back to School Time and that means making some classroom decorations, wall displays and more for school.  I always make a Back to School Wall for the main hallway, but this year I also was recruited by the science department to create a bulletin board.  I made a bunch of science themed decor for them.
Each year, I also help my sister, in Nashville, create her locker decorations. Can you guess what her classroom theme is this year?
Of course I also create things for my daughter as well.  This is part of her redone school supply box that I used Cricket Vinyl Supplies  to create. I will share this final project during Vinyl University week at Fantabulous Cricut.  Check out the link for all the information and to get a discount code for your vinyl supplies.
I will be sharing all these completed projects very soon (Most are not done yet!), plus a few other Back to School projects for my own classroom.  Hope your Back to School crafting has been enjoyable.

Back to School - TODAY!

Today my little girl will start 2nd Grade! Hopefully she gets on the bus and heads off for a great day, like she did last year when she entered 1st grade.
How perfect that the new challenge at Die Cuttin' Divas is Back to School! I had a great time making this layout and looking back at her year in first grade. After getting my papers selected and a basic frame background created I decided to cut these cute tags for each photo.
The stamp from Recollections fit right in the center of the cuts. I added some ribbon to the layout before adding the simple title.
Love this font. It is called Always a Good Time..how fun is that name? Hopefully all of your loved ones have headed or are headed back to school with ease. Why not check out the rest of the DT projects at Die Cuttin' Divas and maybe create one yourself to join in the fun this week.

Supplies:
- My World Cricut Cartridge - circle tag toppers
- Always a Good Time Font
- American Crafts ribbons by Amy Tangerine

Precious

Another Monday has made it our way and this week it is time for a new challenge at Paper Playtime. We want to see your pearls!
For my card  I went to my paper scraps for some inspiration actually. I found a bunch of left over blue pieces and thought they would look pretty with pearls.  I cut a card base and a layer to emboss.  Once I selected the embossing folder the rest of the card just came together.
I found the matching butterfly cut on the Once Upon a Princess cartridge and it had this just right word cut to go with it.  Won't this make a sweet baby card for someone?
I hope you can play along with the Paper Playtime challenge.  Head on over and see what other inspiration we have for you today.

Summer Coming to an End

The summer is slowly coming to an end for me as I return to work this week, Thursday, to get ready for my students who return on the 26th. My daughter heads back this week so it is going to start getting pretty busy around here.
That means that my summer goal for posting everyday during the Summer will officially end  on Friday and I am happy to report...I MADE IT!  I posted everyday this summer.  I feel like I did pretty good for this challenge and I have created several projects I look forward to sharing with you very soon.

I just wanted to say Thank You  for your visits and while I  will not be posting everyday during the school year I will still be posting on a regular basis.

Happy end of summer to you and hope your Back to School times are wonderful!

Oh La La - Bachelorette Invites

Tonight we will celebrate my cousin's upcoming wedding with a fun Bachelorette Party. The Maid-Of-Honor asked me for a little help with the invites and here is what we created.
This fun invite was created using a file form the Silhouette Store. After a few simple modifications - I took out the score lines I was able to cut all the pieces to put these corset lace up cards together. First the base, which I score by hand as I do not like the look of the edges. To see how I did this in Silhouette Studio you can go to this post HERE.

Next came all the pieces for the corsets. There are 3 layers to each side: Lacy base (white), mid layer (patterns form the DCWV Midnight Chic stack and and the top ribbing layer (black). They are cut in separate pieces for each side of the card. They went together very well.
The final pieces of the puzzle were the inside and the lace-up. For the inside we selected a simple tag cut and stretched it. Then we type our wording right on to the label. We used a few fonts for this.

Once I had laid out all the word boxes I grouped them as one so I could move and arrange them as one on the label before we print and cut each one. Once everything was where it belonged we laced them up. They turned out great. I love the way the print look under the black boning cuts. I am sure we will have fun tonight.
Stay tuned, next weekend I will share some of the other decorations I helped make.

Quite Nice

Welcome to Friday everyone. I wanted to share another card I made using the sponsor for this week's challenge at Fantabulous Cricut. The sponsor is CRI-Kits pens and they were nice enough to let the DT try out their products this week. After seeing the rest of the Design Team Projects  I was inspired.
I used the Metallic red pen to create a background on my card. This pattern is a cut from the Creative Cards cartridge, but with the pens it draws it on so nicely.
After I got my base all set up I selected some other cuts form the new Circle cartridge, Charmed. I thought they were cute on this card.
Love the smaller cases and booklets personally
The final touch as some ribbon and a little bling to dot those "i's".
There  is still time to join in the COOL TREATS challenge at Fantabulous Cricut (you do NOT have to use CRI-Kits, but you might win some! Thanks for stopping by to see my card and have a great weekend.

Supplies:
- Charmed Cricut Cartridge - quite nice and envelope
- Creative Cards Cricut Cartridge - drawn pattern
- CRI-Kits metallic red pen
- Martha Stewart ribbon

Orange you glad it's Thursday?

Happy Thursday everyone.  You've almost made it to the weekend!  This week over at Die Cuttin' Divas the challenge is.
Orange &White!
I have to say Orange is not my favorite color, but I ended up making two cards this week because our wonderful guest designer sent me a fun file to play with that I shared on Tuesday. I had already made this fun card when I got that file so I have to share it still. I am super happy with this card. I went look through my paper collection and selected a few orange pattern to work with before creating this card.
If you have seen my DT sister, Lee-Ann's blog you have seen some amazing cards that she makes with card files from SVGcutting files. I had to get one for myself to play with.
Next, I selected this runner girl file from SVGCuts (two different stores with great cuts and very close names) to put on my card.  I have a friend gearing up for a marathon so I thought this would be great to send her. I finished it off with the cute stamp from Scrappy Moms Stamps and some gems.

Please head over to Die Cuttin' Divas and play along with us.  There is still plenty of time to join in the fun this week.
I am also linking this up to a fun challenge at The Pink Elephant: Orange Color challenge
